Join us for a celebration of the life and works of the late Egyptian icon Abdel Halim Hafez at Dubai Opera, with a performance by the HarfousH Jazz Band led by Ahmed Harfoush, an Egyptian London-based jazz vocalist, on Saturday 3 November 2018.

This one-off tribute concert will feature re-works of some of the greatest Abdel Halim Hafez songs from the 1950s and 60s in a new jazz and latino sound, as part of Harfoush’s music project titled “The Egyptian Jazz Projekt”.


Abdel Halim, also known as “Al-Andaleeb Al-Asmar” (The Black Nightingale), was famous beyond the Egyptian arts scene, his songs are masterpieces of collaborative efforts by some of the Arab World's top poets and composers.

Halim performed in almost every Arab country and occasionally sang in Europe, including London’s Royal Albert Hall in 1968, where he received one of the greatest standing ovations of his career.

Ahmed Harfoush regularly appears at leading venues and events in Europe and the Middle East. His extensive repertoire includes traditional jazz and swing, the American songbook, musical theatre, Arabic songs and contemporary hits.

His latest project is the revival of the 1950s and 1960s Egyptian songs with a new jazz sound known as the Egyptian Jazz Projekt.
