The Hive Theatre 2021 continues with Apart and Boxes at The Junction on Friday 2 July 2021.
APART, a play about what it means to live away from the ones we love. In a world struggling through a pandemic it has forced our young students to develop a vocabulary to express their ideas on what this is doing to the world.
Families that live in different countries, parents who live apart from their children, the struggles of the immigrant-expat life and stories that are woven together with poetry and music.
BOXES, an abstract play with a cast of 9-15 year olds. Set in a middle school , it talks about how society often forces us to live within boxes of identity, gender and class.
It examines what it would mean to live in a utopia where we could all be what we wanted to be, to dream and to break the stereotypes that bind us - without worrying about what that would do to the structures that hold us in place.
The Hive Theatre 2021 is the product of six months of learning at The Hive.
Over 7 days, 200 young people will bring together 17 plays at The Junction.
These include comedies, thought-provoking devised plays, an Indian - English full-length play, and a short film screening.
Timings:
Friday 2 July 2021 from 1.30pm to 4pm.
Doors open at 1pm
Price:
• AED 25 General Admission
