We Love Art invites you to Paint & Grape: American Gothic at Couqley on Saturday 17 November 2018.
This is a chance for you to become an artist in one fun day!
Join us and enjoy creating your very own masterpiece as you learn how to paint like the masters during our Paint & Grape workshop.
We will recreate one of world's most well-known pieces: American Gothic.
The female model for the painting was Wood’s sister.
Seeking a model for the male in American Gothic, Wood asked a favour of his dentist, 62-year-old Byron McKeeby.
It's likely McKeeby felt a bit obligated as Wood's constant craving for sugar, even putting it on lettuce, made him a client worth keeping happy.
All that time in the exam chair gave Wood ample opportunity to examine McKeeby's strong hands.
Of them, he said, "This is a marvelous hand. This has strength. This has character.”
Surrounded by new and old friends, with jazzy French music as a backdrop, a brush in one hand and a beverage in your other, this evening has all the ingredients to make you feel at ease and unlock your creativity.
By the end of the three-hour session, having started with a pre-sketched masterpiece, you will leave with great memories and a painting ready to hang on your wall.
You receive three hours of tuition, all your painting materials, a pre sketched canvas and two glasses of wine.
