Description

The Laughter Factory returns in February with three incredible international comedians: George Zach, Dana Alexander and Daliso Chaponda from 25 April until 2 May 2019.

George Zach
George is Greek and moved to Britain at 18 to study Biochemistry lured by the idea of living in the country of Hugh Grant, Mr Bean and Lady Diana; Due to the family budget however, instead of living it large in Notting Hill, he ended up in Newcastle Upon-Tyne.

When he was done with university, George decided lab life wasn’t for him, so whilst playing poker for a living he did his first comedy spot in 2009 in a room above a pub on St Patrick's Day.

Since that day he has gone on to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 5 times and in 2015 he appeared at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

George has firmly established himself in the UK and Australian comedy circuits, has performed in various countries such as Spain, The Netherlands, Greece, Germany and Hong Kong and has supported Luisa Omielan and Sophie Willan on their UK tours.

Outside live comedy work, George has written for and appeared on BBC One's This Week, The One Show and has acted in Sky's Summer Shorts. In 2016 George also was cast as the lead in a Greek speaking play called Aphrodite's Wedding which went on for a week-long sold out run at the Enfield Theatre.

Dana Alexander
One of Canada’s most outspoken and hilarious women has packed her bags for the UK and is currently taking the comedy circuit by storm.

The only black female comedian that was working on the circuit in Canada, Dana's comedic style is both refreshing and irreverent, drawing her material from her diverse lifestyle, her gay friends and her crazy Jamaican family. This is a lady not to be missed!

Culture shock meets hilarity, straight up stand up from a fresh perspective. Dana talks about everything from family to sex to culture with a down-to-earth and world sensibility.

Her unique ability to see the insanity on our every-day lives is what endears her to a wide variety of audiences all over the world. Original and from the gut.

Originally from Edmonton, Dana began her comedy career at the tender age of 18 and quickly became a regular fixture in Canadian Comedy Clubs, universities and festivals.

She was voted in the “Best Discoveries” by Toronto’s renowned Now Magazine in 2006 and has since been included in their "Best Of" issues three years in a row, easily making her one of Canada’s hottest emerging young comedians.

Her Canadian TV credits include Halifax Comedy Festival (CBC), Video on Trial (Much Music), women’s only network The Slice Network and The Comedy Channel (XM Satellite Radio) and this past year her own national half-hour comedy special was aired on CTV.

Daliso Chaponda
Daliso began his comedy career in Canada with the acclaimed one man show ‘Feed This Black Man’.

Following this, he began honing his craft in comedy clubs across the country.

He regularly appears in comedy clubs and theatres across the around the world. He has been part of the Melbourne, Edinburgh, Singapore, Cape Town, and Montreal Festivals.

In addition to stand up comedy, Daliso is also a prolific fiction writer. He has published science fiction, murder mysteries and fantasy fiction in numerous magazines and anthologies.
