Description

Invulnerable Nothings will host a livestream reading of Thomas Dekker's THE WONDERFULL YEARE on Wednesday 1 April 2020

This bestselling 17th century pamphlet details life in London during the plague outbreak of 1603 and was published by playwright Dekker while the city's theaters were dark.

The text explores Queen Elizabeth 1's death, a plague outbreak that closed the city, and many other significant events and happenings in London that year.

It is a theatrical curiosity ripe for rediscovery during our parallel moment of pandemic.

The reading will feature over 20 performances from actors in isolation across the US and UK including Adrian Collins, Allegra Marland, Blake Kubena, Charlie Munn, Charlotte Turner-McMullan, Hannah Wolfe, Jake Robertson, Kat Hipkiss, Kristin Winters, Lauren Guglielmello, Sarah Quigley, Savannah Hankinson, Uchechi Kalu, and Vincent Santvoord, and others.

INVULNERABLE NOTHINGS is an international performance collective committed to radically flat collaborative structures, intermedial stagings of poetic language, and the theatrical activation of research and library centers.

Founded in Brooklyn in 2016, the company has presented work at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe with Volcano Theatre Wales, AvignonLeOFF, The Brooklyn Art Library, The New York Public Library, The Sekrit Theater in Austin TX, The New York International Fringe Festival, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, and The Milk Bar Bristol, among others, and features an active ensemble of artistic associates from both the United States and United Kingdom.

Join voices from across the US and UK as we virtually rediscover an overlooked text for our times.
