Description

Completed in 2010, the Meydan Grandstand and Racecourse, builds upon the 14-year legacy established by Nad Al Sheba.

A visionary facility, Meydan is an ultimate venue for horse racing that further sets the standards for luxury and propels UAE’s horseracing scene to greater heights on the international level.

Providing a splendid array of first-class hospitality offerings within the state-of-the-art structure, the Meydan Grandstand and Racecourse is unlike any other in the world.

Spanning 1.5 kilometres, the spectacular facility is situated under a crescent-shaped roof, encased with solar panels, with seating for 60,000 spectators and covered parking for 8,600 cars.

The Racecourse provides a 1,750m Dirt track and a 2,400m Turf track.

Other facilities include receiving barns, stables, turf and All-Weather training tracks and jockey and horsemen’s lounges. Meydan proudly features the world’s first trackside five-star hotel, The Meydan, with 285 suites offering direct, unobstructed views of the racing action. An exciting mix of high-end international restaurants, a theatre, the Meydan Museum and Gallery all complement what is truly an extraordinary architectural feat.

Meydan Grandstand and Racecourse is a lasting tribute to the elegance and grace associated with the prestigious Dubai World Cup, the venue’s marquee event and the world’s richest race.

Racing at Meydan Racecourse
In addition to staging the Dubai World Cup sponsored by Emirates, Meydan Racecourse also offers a full season of racing, running from the beginning of November to the end of March.

The season includes a calendar of Racing at Meydan meetings as well as the international Dubai World Cup Carnival which carries a prize purse of US$40m and is held at Meydan from early January to Dubai World Cup day.

Exceptional dining and entertainment packages are available at every race meeting, allowing our guests to get right to the heart of the racing action.

Dubai World Cup Carnival
The Dubai World Cup Carnival, worth $40m in prize money, runs from January to March every year and is a season of high-class international race days contested by the most high-profile owners, trainers, horses and jockeys in the world.

Spread across 11 race days, the Dubai World Cup Carnival leads to the season-ending Dubai World Cup sponsored by Emirates. The Carnival runs alongside our domestic Racing at Meydan season.

The major prep for Dubai World Cup day is Super Saturday. It is held three weeks prior to the big day and allows trainers to put the finishing touches to their equine stars before they take to racing’s biggest stage on Dubai World Cup day. As the official dress rehearsal for the Dubai World Cup it is a major social occasion in its own right.

Spectators can gain free access to Meydan on a regular racenight or indulge in a range of viewing options to suit any budget and level of luxury from simple seating to five-star all-inclusive dining.

Dubai World Cup
Created through the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Dubai World Cup provides a truly global stage upon which the best horses in the world come to compete every year.

The biggest sporting and social occasion on the Dubai calendar, the US$30m race day is held at Meydan Racecourse on the last Saturday in March.

As the conclusion of the UAE racing season, Dubai World Cup day features nine high-class races including six Group 1 and three Group 2 contests. Racing is brought to a close by the world’s richest horse race, the $10m Dubai World Cup, won in 2016 by California Chrome.
