InClassica International Music Festival continues with Musical Pilgrimage at Coca-Cola Arena on Sunday 12 September 2021.
With his Concerto for Cello and Orchestra No. 1 that allows the violoncello to compete effortlessly against the orchestra, Camille Saint-Saëns showcased the mastery of his texturing and established himself as a renowned composer.
Alexey Shor's Musical Pilgrimage is a brilliant composition for cello and orchestra inspired by the virtuosity of 19th century music, baroque opulence and even Latin American music.
Steven Isserlis is the soloist in these two fascinating pieces.
Sergey Smbatyan and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra combine the compositions with Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 that was declared the best symphony of all time, after the BBC Music Magazine surveyed 151 conductors working across the world, in 2016.
