Regional Palette is first ever theatre festival for plays in different languages at The Theatre on Friday 2 & Saturday 3 July 2021.
The inaugural event this year consists of four Indian regional languages - Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam and Marathi.
Eight plays of around 25 mins each will be performed during the festival with individual shows for each language.
The list of plays is as follows:
BENGALI
1. Mawron Bhomra
Our first of the two Bengali plays to be performed in Regional Palette - Mawron Bhomra.
Written and directed by Pradipto Dutta thia is a story of three friends who are given a prediction on their lives leading to a upheaval in their lives.

2. Mahavidya
Our second of the two Bengali plays to be performed in Regional Palette - Mahavidya.
Written by Manoj Mitra and directed by Nirjhar Chakraborty this is a satire on corruption in the times of the kings.

GUJARATI
1. Hetu
Our first of the two Gujarati plays to be performed in Regional Palette - Hetu.
Written and directed by Dr. Shailesh Upadhyay, Hetu is a story of a retired police commissioner who hires a governess as his PA leading to a whole new drama with an unexpected ending.

2. Kriya
Our 2nd of the two Gujarati plays to be performed in Regional Palette - Kriya.
Written and directed by Dr. Shailesh Upadhyay, Kriya is a story that revolves around social, financial, ptsctical and futuristic issues involving traditional practices.

1. The Island
Our first of the two Malayalam plays to be performed in Regional Palette - The Island.
Written by Athol Fugard and directed by Shajahan Otta Thayyil, this is an intense play with a unique set up.

Written by Milind Vinod and directed by Milind & Supriya Vinod this one is about finding love in Covid times.

2. Tridha
Our second of the two Marathi plays to be performed in Regional Palette - Tridha
Written by Milind Vinod and directed by Milind & Supriya Vinod this one is a musical about a man in love with three women.

Seven experienced directors are directing each of these plays and overall 63 actors go on stage over one weekend in eight shows.
The festival is presented by Orb Events in association with Art For All and the festival Manager is Angelina Verghese.
